Your rug can retain its lively look with the right kind of care. To start with, take the rug outside and use a broom or a rug beater to loosen deeply embedded dirt. Vacuum it with the bristle bar raised and use a mixture of cool water and gentle detergent to dab at stains till they are removed. Rinse the area with clean water using a sponge followed by blotting the moisture out with clean towels. Allow drying completely before placing it back on the floor.
