7 STEPS TO A LUSH RESORT-STYLE INTERIOR

Marina Home’s tips to ensuring your interior feels like a vacation all year round

If all you can think of is all the incredible resorts on your getaway bucket-list, you’re not alone. While it’s not always possible to jet across the planet to a jaw-dropping escape, if you know how to best combine modern luxury furniture with resort-style accessories and flourishes, you can create an interior that feels like a holiday no matter what time of year it is.

Here are seven tips to get you started:

1. BRING NATURE INDOORS

Our rustic-chic Bulugu pendant lamps look gorgeous above our Thourm dining table and Thieul dining chairs.

For instant vacation decor inspiration, look to nature’s textures and colours and take ideas from there. You can easily create a polished yet organic-rustic look by partnering a variety of furnishings – think a sofa bed, armchair, and wooden bench – all crafted from different materials.

For example, modern luxury furniture like our rattan Lain Lain day bed looks gorgeous next to both our bamboo Sitka side table and our marble, oak wood, and rattan Oviedo side table, even though they’re all made of different materials.

2. CARRY TROPICAL-INSPIRED COLOUR IN THROUGH FABRICS

For the ultimate resort-style vibe, partner your favourite bamboo, wood and rattan furnishings with tribal, tropical, or other vibrant textiles in the form of cushions, throws, and rugs. To tie the look together, choose a piece of oversized wall art as the room’s anchor, and then ‘theme’ soft furnishings and accessories around that.

For a polished aesthetic, match cushions and other accessories with a key piece of furniture, like this vibrant yellow sofa, or a piece of wall art.

3. ADD OVERSIZED WALL ART FOR LOOK-AT-ME PERSONALITY

Our oversized Ocean Walk wall art provides a wonderful pop of colour alongside more neutral furniture.

Speaking of oversized wall art and wall paintings: think about your favourite hotel or resort. It’s probably filled with interesting art and sculptures, right? Large wall paintings, prints, or photographs over beds or on main walls in living or dining rooms can inject an immediate sense of drama without overpowering the aesthetic.

Our Ocean Walk wall art is great for beach-inspired interiors, while our Roger Moore wall art is ideal for an luxe-eclectic interior. For a look that screams exclusive boutique hotel, pair Roger alongside large faux or fresh indoor plants, a bamboo round coffee table piled high with a collection of vibrant coffee table books,  characterful sculptures , and a retro standing lamp.

4. GREENERY A PART OF THE FURNITURE

Plants epitomise luxury holiday escapes. Bring in larger, taller indoor plants or outdoor plants in oversized planters and pots for a lush look that screams laid-back luxe. Tropical indoor plants – think alocasia , aloe vera, and  rubber plants  – are great options.

5. TOUCH-ME FABRICS ARE YOUR INTERIOR'S BEST FRIEND

In this cosy bedroom, laid-back yet luxe bed linen in neutral tones meets a variety of natural materials, from wood to rattan, in furnishings.

Natural linen fabric is a wonderful choice if you’re looking to create a laid-back bedroom that still exudes luxury. Opt for bed linens that wash and wrinkle well in neutral shades of taupe, off-white, eggshell, and warm browns. Our Ayuma bed linens range – which includes duvet covers, fitted sheets, and more – showcases beautiful colours and exceptional quality. For additional texture, bring in a scattering of cushions in tribal and tropical patterns. Then, prepare to relax.

6. SAY HELLO TO GENEROUS HEADBOARDS

An oversized wooden headboard brings a luxury resort aesthetic into any bedroom with hardly any effort at all.

Think of dreamy resort vacations and lean-back beds with oversized headboards probably spring to mind. Generous wood beds with large headboards make creating a plush resort-style interior easier than ever. Our  Yawaran  and Ayana beds are both gorgeous options.

7. CHOOSE SOFT LIGHTING FOR A CALMING AESTHETIC

While a sunlight-drenched interior exudes holiday by day, soft lighting is vital for a vacation-inspired look by night. For a resort-inspired aesthetic that’s laid-back but high-end, consider natural fibre pendant lights – we love our Bulugu light – or even a scattering of low-light, nature-inspired lanterns along shelves or on the floor. We love our  Aurora lantern  and our  Auver lantern .
